Euroleague games previews for November 4th

Leo WestermannThere is no good picks tonight in Euroleague, so I decided to share my thoughts about Euroleague games in Kaunas, Belgrade and Istanbul.

Zalgiris – Darussafaka

This is the first match, when Zalgiris meets their level opponent. Lithuanians are fully concentrated on Euroleague matches and they understand that this is “must win” game for them, if they want to have some fun in this league. They had good away games against Fenerbahce and Panathinaikos, but at home failed to show good team spirit with Maccabi. Everyone is healthy, Jasikivecius has long list of quality players to match with Darussafaka and fight for the victory.

Darussafaka lost both home game to Milan and Efes, but won both away game. In first one they had double digit deficit with Crvena Zvezda (Zalgiris level team) and won against Unics, who played very bad in that game, especially in second half. And now we see them -3 favs in Kaunas, what looks really strange, because they did not deserve to be away favorites with their game level.

I disagree here with Darussafaka favorite status here. Zalgiris deserves to be home favorite against them. -4.5 or -5 line would be too much at this moment, but -2.5 is more correct. I go with value here.

Crvena Zvezda – Baskonia

Baskonia travelled without A.Bargnani to Belgrade. Basque team lost with him in Kaunas and bookies expects them to fall in Belgrade too. Really why not, if mighty Barcelona lost here and Darussafaka saved only in the end?

Baskonia doesn’t have top class players this season. Their 1-3 ATS record proves it. Crvena Zvezda has 2-1-0 ATS record and they can improve this number today against weakened Baskonia.

Anadolu Efes – Panathinaikos

This is going to be a hot game. Efes got their first victory against Darussafaka last week, but they were pursuing opponent till 35 minute. Too many quality players looks to be “out” of Perasovic system. Omic, Heurtel, Osman, Dunston, Honeycutt can do much more than they are currently doing.

Panathinaikos is 3-1 ATS so far in Euroleague. New coach Xavier Pasqual, balanced and deep roster – everything works well. PAO has 8 players who scores 7+ points, and it’s always hard to play against such balanced team. Greek team doesn’t have much to play for in Greek league and might prepare for Euroleague game.

Anadolou team potential is high, but seems that there are some internal problems and at this moment I have no trust to them. Panathinaikos looks much better. They give a fight to CSKA in Moscow, won with buzzer in Bamberg and showed character in both games. I expect close game here with no clear favorite.
