Euroleague Week 12 Betting Tips and Previews

Anthony Gill (BC Khimki)

The headline in Round 12 will be El Clasico, with the Spanish capital serving as the site of this meeting between Real Madrid and archrival FC Barcelona Lassa. In Germany, three players will meet their old teams when Daniel Hackett and Brose Bamberg take on Janis Strelnieks, Brian Roberts and Olympiacos Piraeus.

Friday will feature another clash between powerhouses CSKA Moscow and Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv, this time in Moscow where Maccabi has not won since 2004 on an Anthony Parker three at the buzzer. Also on Friday, Coach Velimir Perasovic and Anadolu Efes Istanbul will host the coach’s former side he took to the EuroLeague Final Four twice, Baskonia Vitoria Gasteiz.

Euroleague power rating

There are important changes at the bottom of our rating. Crvena Zvezda improved their positions, while Efes failed again last week and appeared at the bottom of the standing as the coldest team for betting. CSKA and Olympiacos are leaders and might improve their positions this week if they will cover against Maccabi and Brose.

Picks and Previews

Fenerbahce Dogus

Fenerbahce – Zalgiris

Under 151 @ 1.95 LOST

BC Zalgiris

Zalgiris travels to Turkey without 2 players. Dee Bost has signed with Strasbourg and Edgaras Ulanovas is out, because he needs to heal old injury. Feberbahce welcomes back Kalinic, who was injured this summer and did not play any single game so far.

Lithuanians are clear underdogs in Istanbul, but that exactly best option to bet on them. They like playing as underdogs and playing under Sarunas Jasikevicius you can’t stop fighting… never. Probably that this the reason why they 5-1 against the spread this season. But this time they have one important player out and seems that Sarunas Jasikevicius doesn’t take this game as important, because Ulanovas is not injured. He is just getting rest days to heal the injury, because according to Saras “this is the best time”. This time I am not going to bet on Zalgiris handicap, because I expect Fener to win by 10-13 points.

I expect slow game with defensive control from both teams. Fenerbahce is normally not a high scoring team and Zalgiris offensive numbers are a little bit higher than should be. In slow game against Fenerbahce defense I see guests scoring in the 65-75 points range, while Fenerbahce should score 74-80. Some room for over exists, but with trend support I think it’s good option for system pick.

  • Home avg. scoring: 1.07-1.13 pts/attack
  • Away avg. scoring: 1.06-1.15 pts/attack
  • Expected pace: 133 attacks
  • Expected total range: 141-151 points

Unicaja – Khimki

Khimki +2 @ 1.95 5/10 LOST
Under 156 @ 1.93 5/10 LOST
BC Khimki
Unicaja is 1-3 ATS at home in last 4 games and lost 8 of last 10 games. But they still gets -2 against the Khimki, who are 3-1 ATS on the road in last 4 games. Seems that teams goes in different directions right now and that’s normal situation. Unicaja has never looked to Euroleague as season goal. It’s like bonus for them, while long term interests are Copa Del Rey in February and good results in Endesa League playoffs. Khimki are absolutely concentrated on their games in Europe, because VTB league is weak competition with strange competition format, where you should care too much about your standings.
Everyone except long-term injured Robinson ready to play for Khimki. Markovic is probable after one week off the action. For Unicaja Miloslavjevic is out (personal reasons).
Alexey Shved hitting his best form this day and I doubt that Unicaja will find a response as team to him. Khimki has more experience at this level and at the moment is in better form. Also they are riding on ATS streak and I should take as underdogs against weak favorite as Unicaja is right now.
Game pace should be a slow one, because Khimki relies on their defense in last games. They 4-1 for Unders on the road and playing against Unicaja, which has the same record at home. I expect about 140-143 attacks here, so teams should show 1.10+ pts/attack efficiency to score 157 points. But Khimki on the road is 4/5 for Under this mark and Unicaja is 3/5 for Under at home. In overall this is about 70% for Under, if game pace will be slow.
  • Home avg. scoring: 1.05-1.08 pts/attack
  • Away avg. scoring: 1.06-1.15 pts/attack
  • Expected pace: 141 attacks
  • Expected total range: 148-157 points

CSKA – Maccabi

Maccabi Tel Aviv

CSKA has a 9-2 record, only losing at Real Madrid and against reigning champion Fenerbahce, and has beaten Maccabi in Moscow in seven straight games since the 2003/04 season. Only one of those games was even close, with the yellow-and-blue’s last four visits over the past four years ending in defeats by an average 24.3 points per game.

“This game will allow us to see where we stand at the moment,” said Cole. “We need to improve our defense and be more focused, especially against a team like CSKA. They have a lot of talent and can score from every position. We know what to expect and we will be ready.”

Maccabi Tel will play without Michael Rolle (shoulder injury). CSKA will miss Hunter, Westermann and Vorontsevic (questionable). Maccabi doesn’t have quality at the bench, and they can be hit by injuries. CSKA bench is so deep that they can survive with 3-4 players not being able to play.

I expect easy CSKA victory here, but odds suggest the same. Total range is 157-173 points, but with stats shows that it has more chances to end with 165+ points.

  • Home avg. scoring: 1.13-1.21 pts/attack
  • Away avg. scoring: 1.02-1.16 pts/attack
  • Expected pace: 149 attacks
  • Expected total range: 160-176 points

Panathinaikos 15/12/2017

Panathinaikos – Olimpia Milano

Olimpia Milano +10,5 @ 1.95

Olimpia Milano

A.Goudelock has traveled to Athens with team. There is no confirmantion about his playing status, but he did morning training with the team yesterday and might step to the parquet. On the road Milan played good games. “-9” in Moscow, “-10” in Madrid, won in Valencia and “-5” against Efes. They have depth, size and experience to fight for points in every Euroleague game, but they need time to learn the system and win close games. Something that PAO already learned after hiring Pasqual last season…

But I think that at the moment Panathinaikos is getting too much respect from bookies and public. Their loss in Kaunas in last was a signal, but nobody heared it. PAO is not a top team like CSKA or Real Madrid, who had troubles with this Milan playing at home. They are probably better team, but if Goudelock or anybody else is on fire, they can do miracles. And I believe that Milan can fight for points in Athens, because they are strong underdogs this season. They are 5-1-1 this season as underdogs and 3-1-1 on the road.
