I believe that league is coming back to normal and believe that this game will prove just that.
Memphis Grizzlies – Portland Trailblazers
League is starting to come back to usual I believe and if we look at the standings, we can see just that. Cleveland first place in the East, GSW first in the West, with Spurs, Thunder and the Clippers after them. All five contenders are in the spots they were expected to be.
Looking at the bottom, we can see Sixers without a win, Nets and Lakers with only one win and Sacramento struggling.
Sure, Memphis and NO will move up in the West and probably we can say the same about Wizards and Bulls in the East, but slowly, league is taking the form most predicted.
One of the things that jumped at me, after NO’s poor position (but it’s due to injuries) is the fact that Portland are ahead of Memphis in the West, something that will change and probably tonight already.
Memphis has two key players – Gasol and Conley, with Gasol, without a doubt the more dominant and important player of the two.
Gasol started the season terrible, with worst shooting percentage in the last 5 years for him. But, in the game against the Clippers, he turned things around, shooting 62.5% and in the next game, against GSW, he made his first three pointer of the season.
Memphis looked pretty decent in both games and despite losing both games SU and splitting 1 – 1 ATS, I believe they are on the right track.
Portland on the other hand, is coming back to earth. After three straight SU and ATS wins as underdog and 4 – 2 record, Portland lost all three games after that, falling to 4 – 5 record, despite being favorites in two of the three games.
The last game, they also were 6.5 points dogs and got 13 points loss from the Spurs.
Memphis are 3 – 6 for the season so far and really want to improve. They traded Udrih to get Chalmers, more expensive player, to improve both offense and defense and with Chalmers and Conley running the point, any point guard will struggle against them.
Teams met this season already in Portland and Blazers got the win and now, it’s time for Memphis to get their revenge. Memphis started their four games losing streak with a loss to the Blazers and will end it tonight, also against Portland.
