Boston Celtics – Chicago Bulls
Both teams are aiming for HCA in the first round of the playoffs and if possible, even higher. The problem though, is aside from Cleveland that appear to be one level above the East, the other three places are desired also by Indiana, Toronto, Atlanta and Miami (and maybe by others as well). We are talking about a Conference, that after quarter of a season, the difference between 2nd and 9th places is 1 game only (!!!).
Tonight they face each other and obviously, those direct match ups can have a very big impact on the playoffs seeding in the end of the season. Boston excels against teams who are prone to turnovers and struggles against teams that are good at protecting the ball. 8 of their wins are against bottom teams in turnovers per possession, while they are 1 – 6 against top of the league in that department. Boston leads the league in turnovers they force on the rival team, so obviously, playing a team that can’t protect the ball, makes their lives even more easier.
Chicago are ranked 6th, so they protect the ball pretty well.
On top of that, Chicago after two home losses as favorites, against Charlotte and Phoenix, held a team meeting, after Pau called for one, fuming over the loss to the Suns. Those meetings usually give a team a great boost.
The fact that Bulls won 6 out of 7 last games between them and Celtics and lost ATS only twice in the last 10 games between them, means that they feel really comfortable in this match up and that bookies and public continue to underestimate them, when the two teams meet.
My line here is PK, so 3 points sounds like a pretty nice cushion.
Chicago -3, 1.93 odds – 4 units play – Pinnacle
